Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA)

Japan has supported development of many countries since 1950's.
JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) is one of the largest governmental organizations assisting development of foreign countries in the world. JICA has been working since 1976 in KSA with a great track record as follow.
  • More than 2,000 officers from many Saudi Ministries and agencies were trained in Japan
  • About 800 Japanese specialists dispatched to various Saudi Ministries and agencies
  • Development studies conducted for such as Energy Conservation Master Plan and water resource development
  • Technical Cooperation Projects: Female Entrepreneur Promotion, Management of Sewage Water Treatment Plant, Management Plan for Conservation of Juniper Woodlands, Vocational Training

Human Resource Development

SJAHI established in Jeddah by Both Governments of Saudi-Arabia & Japan and in cooperation with private sector companies of both countries symbolizes Saudi-Japan bilateral cooperation. SJAHI has graduated around 3,000 highly skilled young Saudi technicians since 2002.

As a vocational training institute, HIPF has been providing educational support on technical skills of plastics fabrication to young people in Saudi Arabia in cooperation between SHARQ (a Japanese-Saudi joint venture) and the Saudi Government. The Japanese Government has also contributed to the institute by supporting to dispatch experts. 

  SEHAI has been providing educational support on technical skills of electronics to Saudi youths with support from Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME), Technical & Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), Nippon Engineering College (NEEC), and private companies of Saudi Arabia and Japan since 2009.
