Japan–Saudi Arabia 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations: Special Performances of Kabuki, Japanese Drums, and Tsugaru Shamisen Featuring Hayato Nakamura

Riyadh Japan Festival 2025 Performances (October 31 – November 1 Co-hosted by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City)
At the Japan Festival 2025 in Riyadh held on October 31 and November 1, Kabuki actor Hayato Nakamura presented a live demonstration of kumadori makeup and performed the lion dance from “Shakkyo.” In addition, Taisei Otoma and Hikaru Ishii gave dynamic wadaiko (Japanese drum) performances, while Mitsuyoshi Sasaki II performed Tsugaru shamisen. The audience enjoyed the power and beauty of traditional Japanese performing arts.
On November 1, a kumadori makeup workshop was also held, giving many participants the chance to experience the world of Kabuki firsthand. Over the two days, more than 3,000 visitors witnessed the first-ever Kabuki actor performance in Saudi Arabia.
