Great East Japan Earthquake: Appreciation to people of Saudi Arabia for encouragement and support
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the people of Saudi Arabia for the sympathy, condolences, solidarity and valuable support extended to us when the Great East Japan Earthquake hit Japan in March. After the disaster, the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and H.R.H. Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud sent message of condolence to His Majesty the Emperor.
We extend our heartfelt thanks for the assistance equivalent of 20 million USD pledged by Mr.Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources. Also, The Al-Waleed Bin Talal Foundation made donation to Japan Red Cross Society and the Japan Embassy of Japan in Riyadh received many valuable supports from the people of Saudi Arabia as well.
In April, at the Japan pavilion in Janadriyah festival, Saudi girls came up to one Japanese staff and left him cards with messages to cheer up people affected by the earthquake. Furthermore, we’ve been receiving encouraging messages by means of E-mails, telephones etc. or whenever we met with people of Saudi Arabia.
There was also an article on local newspaper telling that Saudi students in Japan left the key of their flat to local government in order to accommodate sufferers. This is not the only one example of grass-roots support.
Having all these kind of support and cooperation towards reconstruction from all over the world, we are determined to do our best to recover and rebuild the country.
