The 7th Japan-Saudi Arabia Business Council Joint Meeting

Japan-Saudi Arabia Business Council Joint Meeting has taken a major role for strengthening the economic relation between Japan and the Kingdom so far. The 7th meeting was held in Riyadh on March 22nd, 2006. Mr. Keichi Konaga, Senior Corporate Advisor of AOC Holdings, Inc. and Mr. Abdul Rahman A. Al-Jeraisy, Vice Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce & Industry, co-chaired the meeting. H.E. Mr. Yasuo Saito, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and H.E. Mr. Khalid M. Al-Gosaibi, Minister of Economy and Planning, made congratulatory remarks during the meeting.

The meeting attracted more than 150 people from private companies, government institutions and universities of both countries. They had ample chances to enjoy presentations and have discussions on various issues including Saudi economy after the accession to WTO, investment opportunity in the Kingdom, Rabigh project (Joint venture between Sumitomo Chemical and Saudi Aramco), development in mining sector, and desalination projects.

The next meeting is going to be held in Tokyo in the middle of February, 2007.
