Visa Applications

For SHORT-TERM STAYS refer to temporary visits of up to 90 days, a Temporary Visa will be required for the following purposes:

  1. Sightseeing, Business trip, observation trip, short term training courses.
  2. To attend conference, seminar, cultural exchange, treatment in hospital.
  3. To participate in a competition, sport events, exhibitions and festivals.
  4. To visit relatives, friends or acquaintances, to accompany husband.

For WORKS AND LONG TERM STAYS exceeding 90 days, it is advisable to apply by a proxy in Japan beforehand for a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Ministry of Justice in Japan.

For details concerning the acquisition of a Certificate of Eligibility and the time required, please inquire through a proxy at the nearest regional immigration authority.

When applying with a Certificate of Eligibility, Visa will be issued within 2days after submitting required documents

When applying a visa at the Embassy without a Certificate of Eligilibity, it may take approximately 1.5-2months to get response from the Ministry of Justice.

About Passport

Valid Passport should have at least 2 blank visa pages. Non Saudi passport requires a re-entry permit to the kingdom. The Passport is not required to be valid for several months before expiry if the passport is valid on the entry day to Japan, however, applicants are advised to check the expire date of passports to avoid unnecessary problems during staying in Japan.

About Application form and photograph

1(one)application form with a photograph pasted with glue only. Please do not staple or tape.

  • Application form: filled out completely by the applicant and signed.
  • Photograph: taken within the last 6 months, size 45mm x 45mm, with plain background.

    Submitting Documents

    Documents will be accepted at Visa Section by the applicant or his/her representative or Embassy Services Company "Al Fifa for General Services"; during Visa Application hours 08:30 ~ 12:00

    Application without original passport will not be acceptable.  However, if an applicant wishes to retain the passport for urgent travel, some cases will be considered upon a written request.

    Applying by mail is strictly prohibited to avoid loss of passport.

    Documents must be submitted well in advance prior to the departure date, preferably at least 2 weeks earlier.

    Passport Pick-up

    The date to pick up the passport will be written on the receipt after the submission of documents. It will usually be ready for pick-up after 3 – 5 working days, but in some cases it may take 5 days ~ a week or even longer.

    Visa Validity

    Single-entry visas are valid for three months and double entry visas for six months. Multiple-entry visas are valid for 12 months or 3 years from the date of issue.

    In case a visa is valid for three months, the holder can use it to enter Japan any time within three months from the date of issue. When a visa is not used within three months, it will be automatically invalid. The holder has to apply for a visa again with required documents.

    Visa Fee

    Visa fees must be paid with cash only. Please bring the exact amount. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted.

    SR95 for Single Visa
    SR190 for Double-entry & Multiple Visa

    For Indians, SR25 for Single, Double and Multiple, SR5 for Transit
    For Iranians, SR155 for Single, SR315 for Double & Multiple

    Visa fee will be gratis for Diplomatic, Official VISAs and nationals of countries that have reciprocal arrangements with Japan.
    Asia: Korea, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippine(as temporary visitors & Entertainers only), Malaysia
    Middle East: Jordan

    Fees might change with effect from 1st of April each year.

    Others

    1. In principle, applicant is required to come to the visa counter of the embassy in person with his/her your application. However, if you meet the following conditions, you can make your agent, family member, or messenger apply on your behalf:
      Those who hold a diplomatic or official passport.
      Those who are traveling on business purposes.
      Those who have traveled to Japan within last 5 years.
      Those who are either under 16 years or over 60 years of age.
      Those who are physically disabled.
      Those who are traveling as part of a group tour.
    2. In case a visa is not granted, we usually explain Criteria of Visa Issuance, but cannot disclose the reasons to the applicant or persons concerned. We do not accept the same application from the same person within six months from the date of the visa refusal.
